3/11/2010 Preferred Vendors 3/11/2010
Having worked in the wedding industry for years... I have seen a LOT of different vendors, and have worked in nearly every major venue in the Lake Country Area and Downtown Milwaukee. I have seen a lot of what works well... and also what doesn't work well. I am a great resource to my clients who are in the process of planning a wedding! Planning your wedding can be like putting the pieces of a puzzle together... you will find that a lot of things just need to fall into place. But with so many options out there, and weddings being such important events, how do you know what vendors and services will fulfill your dreams and expectations? That is why I think referrals are SO important. Here, I am listing a few companies that I have worked with over the years that I feel are fabulous at what they do. Hopefully you find this list helpful.

"Gretchen, I figured out what I love about your photography...everything is perfectly intimate. It never looks forced; it looks like God had a camera out and caught a moment in these people's lives. It is such a beautiful gift and one I plan to take advantage of for years to come!"--Marie, Hartland, WI
"When my fiance Dave and I started to plan our June 2010 wedding, we knew that one of the most important details would be our photographer. As a graphic and web designer, I was familiar with many different photoshoot compositions as well as editing techniques. I knew we were looking for someone that could be more modern and edgy and someone that would complement our style. Gretchen was a dream to work with. During our engagement photo shoot, she listened to what we liked and didn't like and did an excellent job directing both of us. She researched a few of the downtown Milwaukee areas we wanted to use, and she even suggested a few other places that fit perfectly. And when we got the photos back, we were blown away. The digital editing was exactly the style we were hoping for -- some of our shots look like freaking movie posters! Incredible. We can't WAIT to work with her on our wedding day because we know the photos will not only look phenomenal, but we will also be getting so much for an exceptionally reasonable price. THANK YOU, GRETCHEN!" --Kristin, Waukesha, WI
"I was just looking at your site. If you EVER need an endorsement on your fabulous abilities, please give out our name. We think you are an AWESOME photographer and would love to shout your abilities from a mountain!!" -- Buff Danen, Mother of the Bride, Oconomowoc, WI
"Gretchen is Extremely Talented and Incredibly Wonderful to work with!
"We cannot say enough about how pleased we were with Gretchen as our wedding photographer. Through the entire process Gretchen went out of her way to make sure we got everything we wanted and more out of the experience. Her attention to detail, passion for her art and genuinely friendly demeanor truly set her apart. We are so happy with all of our beautiful, unique pictures that we are having a hard time narrowing down the ones to display in our home!
8/17/2009 My New Favorite Find! 8/17/2009
With wedding and senior portrait seasons in full swing, I am spending countless hours at my computer, editing each session to perfection! All the music in my iTunes and even on the radio cannot satiate my huge appetite for fresh new sounds. I am a music junkie. Up until a few days ago, I've been bored and frustrated with hearing the same songs over and over. That is, until I discovered Pandora Radio, an online music vendor, where you pic the genre, the artist, or the style of song you are craving to hear, and they create your own personalized music mix! Pandora online is entirely free, and even virtually commercial free, for pleasant, uninterrupted listening. I like Pandora because it infuses new songs and artists that I've never heard before with older songs of the same chosen genre that I haven't heard in a long time. The process of getting started with Pandora is simple. Type in www.pandora.com, fill out a quick registry, and type in the name of a song or artist that you are craving to hear. Pandora begins playing your music, and even saves the "station" of music for future listening. You can create as many stations as you want, from as many genres as you are interested. Among my current stations are names such as Dave Matthews, Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Anberlin, The Offspring, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Feist, Taylor Swift, and Clutch... just to name a few. Quite the variety, and that's the fun thing-- there are no limits; whatever your mood, Pandora delivers the music to suit! As if I didn't love my job already, Pandora makes the computer work that much more enjoyable and inspiring!!
5/13/2009 About Faith Photography Owner & Photographer, Gretchen Krieger 5/13/2009
Faith Photography has been a dream and a work in progress for me, photographer and owner, Gretchen Krieger, since my travels to Europe inspired me to heedlessly pursue photography. After returning from several trips to Europe, I transferred to Western Michigan University to major in photography, where I completed my college education and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I then moved back home to Hartland WI, where I’ve been fortunate enough to be working as a professional photographer ever since! Faith Photography is the culmination of my lifelong passion for and schooling in the arts and my unwavering ability to see beauty in, well… just about everything!
Weddings... where to begin! They have become my heartbeat- I cannot describe the joy I experience getting to be a part of and capture the most beautiful and joyous day in two people's lives. I actually never thought I would do weddings, because my perception of wedding photography was that it was cheesey, too posed, irritating to the clients and their guests, and not enough room for creativity or relationship-building. Boy was I wrong! When I realized right out of college how incredibly creative and fashion forward wedding photography has become, I immediately wanted to learn- I wanted to be good. Now, I want to be the best. Not just for myself, but because being chosen as someone's wedding photography is a tremendous HONOR, and I want nothing more to deliver an incredible, beautiful, complete, and cared after package of wedding photography to a young, modern bride and groom. I have also been blessed by the relationships I've been able to create with my young clientele, who are typically right around the same age as I am. There is nothing more priceless, I believe, than being able to trust implicitly the person who is in charge of your wedding memories, and I strive for that trust by building relationships and doing detailed planning sessions with my brides. Wedding photography has truly become my passion. Having lived my entire 25 years in the Lake Country area, I have been observing and basking in this area's natural beauty for a long time. My history here lends itself greatly to my photography, as my motto is... "The world is my studio!" This photographer knows the perfect spots to go to get unique and meaningful portraiture. I also have a pretty good idea of the style of and things that are important to families, high school seniors, and brides (and mother-of-the-brides!) in Lake Country. Things that I enjoy besides photography are spending as much time as possible outdoors; going for long nature hikes with my dog Paisley; spending quality time with family and close friends and hanging out with my 2-year-old nephew ; meeting new people; taking drives down back country roads, music up, windows down; cars; dancing or watching others dance (The Milwaukee Ballet, "So You Think You Can Dance"); and I still love anything pertaining to the arts- galleries, design, sketching, creating, and hopefully painting again someday soon! My guiding star, my beacon of hope, my resting place, the reason I almost ALWAYS have a smile on my lips and in my heart... is because of my relationship with Jesus Christ! In this past year, the most important things I have learned are that God created me the way I am because it pleased him to do so... that the creator of the universe and everything in it that I find so beautiful loves me so much that he wants a relationship with me... and that no matter what happens around us in this thing called "Life," he is always good, and always in control... there is no greater sense of peace available out there!
So why the name Faith Photography? Because I have wanted to be doing this- owning my own business photographing people and creating art and relationship- for so long, and had no idea if it would ever become a reality!! I look back over my life, how I have always loved art, children, and have a unique personality that people and even myself couldn't understand at times... I look back at the trials and triumphs, and realize that most of the time, we as humans have no idea what is happening and certainly not WHY they are happening. My Faith in God and his plans for my life have carried me through much, and have in fact led me to where I am today. God gave me my brain and my artistic talent and my personality and said "Do something with these gifts." But I cannot take all of the credit for the success and joy I am experiencing through this business, and my hope is that the name will always point people back to the concept of Faith, and the One who is responsible for ALL good things in our lives!!!
